Free Range Dog Chews Moves Beef and Lamb Production to Argentina
Romeo, MI (March 25, 2010) - When it comes to producing the finest dog chews, just like many things in life, the key is location, location, location. That's why Free Range Dog Chews is moving both its beef production from Brazil, and its lamb production from the U.S., to Argentina. According to President Ralph Claypool Sr., there are several reasons why this move is good news for both people and pets.
A great location.
In many ways, Argentina's Pampeana Region is par excellence for an ecosystem conducive to raising Angus cattle and sheep. With its varied landscape, fertile soil, vast plains of native, high-protein green grasses, abundant safe clean water and moderate climate, it is one of the richest agricultural areas on the planet. Argentina is also one of only five countries in the world that is certified free of BSE.
They care for the environment.
Ruminant animals like beef cattle and sheep were meant to roam free and graze. Argentina has allowed nature to take its course without interfering with their diet. For maximum environmental sustainability, Argentina's ecologic certification system uses a nine-year rotation matrix alternating from food crops to sunflowers, to grasslands for cattle. Only the power of sun and gentle rains are needed to make the natural food crops and grasses grow with the cattle themselves naturally fertilizing the land, leaving a low carbon footprint. While Brazil's government is now spending billions of dollars to try to stop prominent global corporations from clearing the Amazon rainforest, Argentina continues on with responsible stewardship of all of its natural resources. "Moving to Argentina," asserts Claypool, "has allowed us to maintain our core values rather than lower our standards."
Pasture finished as nature intended.
"Over the past few decades," Claypool explains, "many countries including the U.S. and now Brazil have taken this natural process and made it so commercialized that it is inhumane, unsanitary and can be devastating to the environment. In their quest to rush the cattle to market, the animals may start out grass-fed. But then they're finished in stressful, cramped feet lots, standing in cesspools of manure and disease and are fed anything that's available, along with cheap grain and corn grown with pesticides and other chemicals.
Plus, they're given antibiotics to stay as healthy as possible under the circumstances, as well as growth hormones to speed development. These added hormones are retained in the beef, which then is consumed by our children and our pets." In contrast, animals that graze freely on the Argentine range do not have any need
for antibiotics or growth hormones. In fact, the use of these in livestock is actually illegal in Argentina.
Humane and healthy, a win-win.
"Just remember," concludes Claypool, "that healthy treats come from healthy, humanely treated cattle. Free range, grass-fed and most importantly, 'pasture finished' are the claims pet parents should look for when comparing dog chew brands." Free Range Dog Chews has all these bases covered as they make their move to greener pastureland.
